Why Radha Rani Pretended to be Blind during her Appearance?

Respected Devotees, after a long gap today again I wish to write something, and this time it’s something about Radha Rani. I know that it’s nothing but her blessings upon me. However, before I start explaining the fact, let me inform you that Devi Kirtida & King Brishvanu were the parents of Srimati Radha Rani.

On the very next day of Radha Rani’s appearance day Devi Pournamasi reached the place of King Brishvanu. Upon seeing the baby girl (Radha Rani) she got delighted & told that this baby girl is none other than Rasheswari”. Devi Pournamasi also suggested them — “to take extreme care of this baby girl, because she is the origin of Goddess Laxmi,   she has appeared on this earth in order to perform some secret Leelas(divine play), she is the

baby form of radha rani

Baby form of Radha Rani

ultimate goddess of this Earth & Goloka. The Gopis always worship Srimati Radha Rani. Lord Bramha, Shiva, Indra, Varuna & other demigods always pray to her Lotus feet. The way Lord Vishnu appears on this earth in order to perform his Leelas, similarly Radha Rani too has appeared this time as Vishnu’s companion in order to help him in performing his leelas. By having Darshan or through worshiping or by her mere touch all your wishes will be fulfilled. So, your duty is to take care of this girl in every possible way. After forecasting all these things Devi Pournamsi left the place, then after sometimes Kirtida & Brishvanu had a close look to their baby girl and they discovered her to be blind, nothing was getting visible to her, both of her eyes were completely closed. After noticing this fact everyone present in their house started crying. Though their daughter was blind, yet many people started visiting the place in order to have a glimpse of the beauty of the little girl.

After few days Nanda Maharaja & his wife Yashoda also visited the place along with their son Krishna. Upon seeing Nanda Maharaja, Brishvanu hugged him and both the couples greeted each other. Lord Krishna already understood that her beloved Radha Rani has already appeared at the place of Kirtida, so he planned to meet her; however, Radha Rani was sleeping then in her baby form. When Kirtida & Yashoda were busy in their conversation regarding Radha Rani’s blindness issue, then little Krishna started crawling from Mata Yashoda’s lap & reached to the room where Radha Rani was sleeping. Upon reaching there he boarded on the swing where Radha Rani was kept & touched both of her eyes.  And then instantly Radha Rani opened her eyes in order to have the darshan of Krishna. When Kirtida & Yashoda noticed that Radha Rani has opened her eyes, then they became very happy & there was mood of joy all over the place.

Radha Opening Eyes after Krishna’s Touch

One more explanation is available regarding this incident:
Mata Yashoda came at Kirtda’s place taking Krishna in her lap, when Yashoda saw the beautiful daughter of Kirtida, then she took Radha Rani in her lap keeping Krishna on the swing & started playing with her, however, to see that Krishna started crying. Then Mata Yashoda bent down & took Krishna also in her lap. It’s the common nature of babies that whenever they come close, they try to touch each other. Similarly, when Radha & Krishna came close to each other in Mata Yashoda’s lap, then Krishna touched Radha Rani. Upon getting the touch from her beloved, she opened her eyes & it was their very first meet on earth.

Why Radha Rani pretended to be blind?
In Golaka when Krishna was getting prepared for his Vrindavan leela, then he informed Radha Rani about the same and asked her to appear on earth in order to accompany him in performing those leelas. But, Radha Rani denied to go to earth as she will have to face many persons out their & she was fully dedicated to Krishna and always wanted to see him only in front of her eyes.  Then Krishna asserted her that on earth she will always see Krishna in front of her eyes, Radha Rani got agreed to a promise made by Krishna that he will be the very first person whom she will see first on earth. This is the only reason for which Radha Rani was pretending to be blind. 🙂

Why Married Couples Must Perform the Putrada Ekadashi?

Respected Devotees, this year 20th Jan,2016 will be the day of Putrada Ekadashi or Pausha Putrada Ekadashi. It falls on the light fortnight(Shukla Paksha) of the month. In my last post I explained about the Saphala Ekadashi where Lord Krishna explained to Dharmaraj Yudhisthir about the merit of it, after that Dharmaraj further asked –

  1. What’s the name of the Ekadashi that falls on the light fortnight of Shukla Pakshya?
  2. What is the name of the deity who is worshiped on this Ekadashi?
  3. What’s the benefit of performing this Ekadashi?

In response to that Krishna replied as:

  1. The name of this Ekadashi is Putrada Ekadashi.
  2. Lord Narayan is worshiped on the day of Putrada Ekadashi.
  3. On performing this Ekadashi vrat Lord Narayan fulfills all the wishes of his devotees, it also destroys all the sins & elevates a person to the spiritual abode. One also becomes wise & famous in life as a result of performing this Ekadashi. Most importantly, one who desires to have a son, must perform the Putrada Ekadashi very strictly as the word “Putrada” means giver of a Pious son or Putra.

History Behind Putrada Ekadashi: After explaining the results or benefits of this Ekadashi Lord Krishna started explaining the history behind of it. Once there was a kingdom named as Bhadravati & Suketuman was the king of it. The name of his queen was Shaibyaa. Both the King & the Queen were living a happy life. However, after performing many religious events & Yajnas when the king failed to get a son, then he started living a life of anxiety & pain. He used to think that without son his life is a wastage & after death no one will be there to offer Tarpan to God, sages & ancestors, in this way even after death he will remain indebted to his ancestors. All these thoughts made the king fully negative and one day he decided to commit suicide. However, he refrained from committing that as he knew that killing himself will bring no solution in his life, rather he will be trapped in the cycle of Birth & Death.

One day in the morning he mounted horse and went to the dense forest, he roamed in all the directions of the forest, gradually he became tired & also started feeling hungry & thirsty. He started searching for water-body, after struggling for sometime he discovered one & it was very pleasant with Lotus, crocodile, swans, ducks in it. On the bank of that water-body the king found some hermitages(Ashrams) where sages were chanting the Vedic slokas. Seeing them the king paid his humble obeisances by joining his palms, seeing his deep respect the sages became happy & asked — Oh king, we are pleased with you, now please tell us the reason for which you have come over here. Then in humble voice the king asked the sages about their identities. Then the sages replied that “we are known as the ten Vishvadevas, we have gathered over here to have bath. In next 5 days the month of Magha will commence here & today it’s the day of Putrada Ekadashi. Since this Ekadashi is capable to bless a person with pious Son, so the name has derived as Putrada.”

On hearing this the king said – Oh great sages, I am an unfortunate person who does not have any son & this is the reason I am so much unhappy in life, after seeing you all I can see a ray of hope in life, so please bless me by a son. Then the sages asked him to perform the Putrada Ekadashi, Following their suggestion the king observed Ekadashi on that day & broke his fast on Dwadashi Parana time. After that he paid his obeisances to all the sages & returned home happily. Because of the effect of Putrada Ekadashi the King was blessed by a son who became a heroic king later.

Putrada Ekadashi

Krishna said– Oh Yudhisthir, everyone on this earth should observe Ekadashi, people who will follow the rituals of Putrada Ekadashi, will be able to avoid the Hell named as “Put”. And, one who simply reads or listens to the glories of Putrada Ekadashi, obtains the same merit derived by one who performs the Agnishtom Yajna. In Bramhanda Purana the significance of this Ekadashi has been mentioned.

Importance of Saphala Ekadashi

Respected Devotees, after a long time I am going to narrate something in this domain & undoubtedly it’s Krishna’s wish & mercy that he has enabled me to write. Recently a good thing has happened in my life, I have started performing the Ekadashi vrat & credit goes to one of my closest friends who paved the way for me. May Krishna bless her with pure devotion. 🙂

Let’s come back to the topic, as this is the time of December & dark fortnight of the month, so during this time the Ekadashi vrat which we perform, is known as Saphala Ekadashi. It falls on the Paush Krishna Paksha. The significance of this Safala Ekadashi has been narrated in Brahmanda Purana also.

When Dharmaraj Yudhisthir asked Lord Krishna about the merit of this Saphala Ekadashi, then in response to that Krishna replied as – “I do not become as pleased by sacrifice or charity as I do by My devotee’s observance of Ekadashi, to the best of one’s ability, therefore, one should fast on Saphala Ekadashi, the day of Shri Hari”. He further added that the way Sesh-Nag is the best among all snakes, Garud is the best among all birds, Bramhins are the best among human beings, similarly among all fasting days or Vrat(s) Ekadashi is the best or most dearest to me. So, people who observe this Ekadashi vrat are dear to me. In this material world I bless them with wealth & after death I bless them with salvation. The result or fruit which can not be achieved even after the penance of 1000 years, can easily be attained by staying awake for the whole night during this Saphala Ekadashi.

ekadashi importance

Lord Krishna Telling Ekadashi Importance to Pandavas.

History Behind Saphala Ekadashi: Once there was a king named as Mahismat in the city of Champavati, he had 4 sons, among those his eldest son Lumpaka was engaged in various sinful activities like enjoying illicit sex with wives of others, drinking wine, gambling and many such activities. He always used to criticize Brahmans & Vaishnavas. The king was very much annoyed with his behavior and finally exiled him from his kingdom.

After this Lumpaka decided that he shall stay in the dark forest during day time & visit back to the kingdom during darkness of night in order to steal valuables. Various times he was nabbed red handed, but out of fear of king & mercy people freed him repeatedly. During day time Lumpaka used to kill many innocent animals, in this way he was continuously engaged in sinful activities.

There was an old Banyan tree in that forest & it’s the known fact that Lord Krishna resides in Banyan tree, this is the reason in Indian culture we worship Banyan trees. Lumpaka used to reside under that tree. After a long time due to the effect of his good karma of previous birth he survived the day of Dashami by eating fruits only, during night he suffered tremendously due to extreme cold & lost his consciousness, on the very next day it was the day of Saphala Ekadashi, but for the sufferings of last night he laid down their unconscious even after the sun rise, during afternoon he regained his consciousness & arranged some fruits from forest. By the time he returned to the banyan tree, the sun had set. So, he started taking rest, during night he became very weak for the insufficient foods. Then to save himself he started praying to Lord Narayan, offered all the fruits that he collected & prayed further to lord. In this way he spent the night by fasting & staying awake. Lord Narayan considered the whole thing as equivalent of performing Ekadashi Vrat. 🙂

In this way unwittingly Lumpaka observed Safala Ekadashi. After the sunrise there was a voice from clear Blue Sky (Akash vani)– Oh Son, because of the effect of performing Saphala Ekadashi your kingdom will be returned to you without any further delay. And, right after that announcement Lumpaka got a divine body, all his sinful thoughts were vanished. In this way he regained his right place in the dynasty. After living few years happily with his son & wife he handed over his kingdom to his son & went to forest as Sanyasi in order to serve Lord with pure devotion in heart. Finally during death he was able to return to the lotus feet of Krishna. 🙂

Finally Lord Krishna concluded by saying that — “Yudhisthir, in this way whoever performs the Saphala Ekadashi like Lumpaka, enjoys the Earthly Happiness during this life & returns to Baikuntha after death. And, one who simply listens to the glories of Saphala Ekadashi, obtains the same merit derived by one who performs a Raja-suya-yajna & goes to heaven in his next birth”.

Mahabharat: Reason for which Pitamah Bhishma had to suffer on the Bed of Arrows

Dear Devotees, till date all the posts which I have made in rajeshhaldar.com, you have found that behind each situation or incident there was past karma involved of the concerned persons. Similarly when we will try to know for what reasons a true devotee of Krishna and respectable person Pitamah Bhishma had to suffer through the pain of thrones like arrows then we will see his past karma is responsible for this. During the war of Kurushetra when Bhishma was struck down by Arjuna with his arrows then he had fallen down from his chariot, as his whole body was pierced through many arrows so his body could not touch the ground, rather those pierced arrows became his bed on which his body was lying. Later when he requested Arjuna to arrange pillow so that he can rest his head then Arjuna made a support like pillow with help of arrows, even when Pitamah Bhishma asked for water then Arjuna struck one more arrow to the earth and Mata Ganga appeared with her cold water. He had the boon of dyeing at his own will, so he was lying on the bed of arrows till the moment the war did not end and he saw the Hastinapore in a safe hand. Later when Krishna went to meet him with all Pandavas then after offering pranama Bhishma asked him – “He Madhav, you say that Karmanye Vadhikaraste, Ma phaleshou kada chana, it means, this Mrityuloka or earth is the land of Karma and this is place where we receive the result or fruits of our past karmas. I know about all my past 17 births, but never I caused any pain to anyone, then why I have received so much pain through this bed of arrows?”, listening to this question Krishna smiled & asked him -“you do remember all your past 17 births? What about the 18th?”, then Pitamah said -“I don’t remember about my 18th birth”. Then Krishna told him that “in your 18th birth you were a prince and committed a sin by throwing off a snake with your arrow, when you had thrown it away then it had fallen upon a place which was full of thrones, many thrones got pierced through the body of that snake, it was causing great pain to him, later all family members of that snake tried to help him to get rid of those thrones, but they failed, then before dyeing the snake cursed you “He Rajan, I don’t know your identity, but the way you have caused me pain of thrones similarly one day you too will experience the same, you too will have a huge family, but no one will be able to uproot those thrones from your body and in this way you will die.”, then Krishna added more “as you followed the path of devotion in all your births so it was protecting you till date from the sin you committed, but as now you have fought from the side of Adharma (Duryodhan) so the dormant sin has ripened now.”. After listening to that Pitamah Bhishma was satisfied and he wished to die, then a divyajyoti (soul) came out of his body and found it’s place at the lotus feet of Shri Krishna.

mahabharat bhishma on the bed of arrowsLesson: So dear friends, never commit any sinful activity in life, always try to perform good karma and never boast about it. I have seen many of my friends who easily get frustrated to see dishonest people who are earning more and reaching the pinnacle of success very easily, but friends, never compare your condition with those who are dishonest in life, because you are not the Paramatma, so you have no idea about their previous lives and karmas, one thing you all just be rest assured, if something good or bad happens to you then your past karma is responsible for that, it’s not necessary to get the fruits of karma in the same birth itself, like in above incident you have already seen Pitamah Bhishma to suffer the pain of his karma which he did in his previous 18th birth. Just make sure that in this present birth you are causing no pain to others, not committing any injustice or any type of sinful activity. Because, you might think that no one is seeing you, but the Paramatma or Shri Krishna is present in every molecules of this universe, he is watching all our karmas at the same time he is also watching the demigods and their activities too, so we all are mere children of him, he counts all our activities and accordingly we get the fruit of the same. Regarding this I would like to share one small story with all of you.

A small story: Once upon a time there were 2 brothers, one was dishonest but very rich, he was living very happily as he had all the luxurious goods, but the other one was very poor and back to back 3 days he had no food to cook at home, he was surviving on mere alms, then the rich brother mocked upon him and told, “see, you follow the path of devotion and through out the day you do the bhajan only, this is the reason your god has given you no foods, and see me, I don’t do bhajan, but I am having everything. So better join me, work for me & I shall give you foods”, but the poor brother went on continuing his bhajan. One day the rich brother told the poor one to accompany him to a journey, then while walking the rich brother suddenly slipped off and fallen on ground, then he marked that place where he had fallen, when the poor brother asked him why did he mark that place then he said that whenever and wherever he falls on ground, on digging that place he gets a pot full of gold, then the poor brother said “okay” and continued to walk, after a certain time the poor brother slipped off and fallen on ground, but the place where he had fallen were full of thorns, he got wounded, to see this the rich brother again mocked upon him and said “see, where I fall on ground, I get the gold, but as you do the bhajan so you receive the thorns only on falling on ground”, listening to that the poor brother got hurt and started crying and asked god “why this is so? Why even after serving him through Bhajan he receives thorns only?”, then to see his condition god himself appeared in front of him and told “your brother is enjoying his luck because of his past karma, in his past birth he was a benevolent and used to do a lot of charity, this is the reason though he has become dishonest now or not doing any pious work, still enjoying everything and he will continue to enjoy it until his good karma of past life ends up, but Oh my dear devotee, you are dearest to me as you do the bhajan & living your life in ethical ways, actually you were to die when you had fallen, because of your devotion I have given you a new life and beaten your death with those thorns, nothing else”. In this way God blessed him with a happy and new life and disappeared.

So friends, hope you got your answers now why few people are earning more than you even after not following the honest path, don’t worry, once there good karma will end up then they too will start experiencing the misfortune. Just engage yourself in good karma with the feelings of duty and at the end of the day before going to sleep just pray to God and say “Oh My Lord, I am putting all my works and it’s fruits at your lotus feet, please don’t give me any Paap or Punya, just bless me with pure devotion and unconditional love at your lotus-feet so that I can serve you more efficiently & selflessly”, this is what I myself pray to god everyday, because Bhagwat Gita has taught me this which today I have shared with all of you. 🙂 Actually by not expecting or asking for any fruit of your karma you will remain free of any types of bondage and after death you can go back to Krishna, you need not to born again and die again, you will become free of this eternal cycle of birth & death. This is what Nishkam Karmayog is. May Krishna bless you all. Hare Krishna. 🙂
